Drive from the Hotel to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. Once you reach the park gate, you will sign in at the Park office and make your final preparations to start the climb. We now leave the Park gate and ascend on a cleared ridge trail through the rainforest. The forest, covered with mist and dripping with beards of moss, is also where most of Kilimanjaro's animals are found. We will spend our first night at Mandara Hut, a group of wooden A-framed huts set in a forest clearing. Water is piped into the camp from springs above and there are flush toilets behind the main hut.

From Mandara Hut the trail passes through a short stretch of forest, skirting the base of the Maundi Crater emerging into the transition zone from rain forest to moorland. After about 6 hours from here we will reach the Horombo Hut where will we stay overnight. Make the most of the hot washing water available here.

We continue our ascent into the Alpine desert zone passing the last place where water is available at 4,130 m. We will fill our water bottles with all the water we will need until our return to Horombo Hut in two night's time.  From Kibo Hut, the summit is now a further 1,195 m of ascent. We will make our summit ascent tonight so we will go to sleep at 18:30pm and try to get as much rest as possible.

We will wake up around 23:30pm, and after some tea and biscuits we will set off into the night. It will be a tough challenge. The first section of the trail consists of a rocky path to Hans Meyer point (5,250 m). The path then zigzags up to Gillman's point (5,681 m) on the crater rim. This section is very steep with much scree.

From Gillman's Point we could encounter snow all the way up to Uhuru peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. Weather conditions on the summit will determine how long we will be able to spend, taking photographs before the 3 hours descent back to Kibo Hut. After a short rest we gather all our gear we left behind for the ascent and head down to Horombo Hut (3 hours). Later in the evening we enjoy you’re our dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep, filled with memories of the day's achievements.

We continue our descent, passing the Mandara Hut, down to the Marangu Gate from where we will depart. This is also where we will receive our summit certificates.  A vehicle will meet us at Marangu Gate to drive you back to the Hotel.
