Kenya’s First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has said that African governments are taking proactive measures for ensuring that the travel and tourism sector contributes more to the continent’s economy. She said that African governments have vowed to collectively work together as a team to sustainably utilize and grow the sector for increasing wealth and generating more jobs.

After the launch in 2016, Kenya hosted the Global Meeting Industry for the first time drawing the attention of the tourism stakeholders for concerted efforts to stimulate growth of meetings, events and conference (MICE) sub-sector which is a an important source of revenue and jobs.
